Our Mission

The Problem

The world has a growing crisis in food supply and freshwater availability. Global food production needs to increase by 70% by 2050 to meet demand, and food prices are increasing. Fertile, arable land is actually decreasing around the world, while the demand for arable land, and for freshwater is increasing rapidly. Meanwhile our oceans are being overfished and unsustainable aquaculture methods are growing rapidly to fill the void and have been impacting the environment. Many conventional production methods for food production are detrimental to the environment and ecosystem, which in turn affects food resources in the future.

Therefore, we must find new sources of protein and nutrients, and adjust our consumption behaviour to ways that are healthy for our bodies, sustainable, and beneficial to the environment.

Our Solution:

Algae is the Most Sustainable, Nutrient Dense Food Source on the Planet

Amazing Algae

Algae is the Most Sustainable, Nutrient Dense Food Source on the Planet
Algae is the Most Sustainable, Nutrient Dense Food Source on the Planet

For the Environment:

  • Algae produce over 50% of the world oxygen by fixing CO2 at a rate up to 10 times higher than terrestrial plants!
  • They recycle nutrients from the environment and can help to maintain a healthy ecosystem.
  • Algae are at the base of the food chain and thus support virtually all life in the oceans.

As a food source:

  • Algae can produce high value Omega-3 oils which have anti-inflammatory properties, promoting healthy heart, joints, the immune system, and even positive mood.
  • Many beneficial products are created in the algae production process including omega-3 oils, plant-based proteins, carotenoids, aquaculture feeds, cosmeceuticals, and bio-fertiliser.

As a form of agriculture:

  • Algae cultivation yields the highest protein per hectare on earth! Ten times higher than soybeans.
  • Algae farming uses the least fresh water on earth.
  • Algemy uses marine or ground water inputs and has no wastewater outputs.
  • It is an alternative to krill harvesting which threatens the marine wildlife food chain.

About Algemy

Algemy Pty Ltd is an Australian company based in Queensland and New South Wales that is developing production systems to commercialise microalgae products. These products include omega-3 rich oils, protein rich biomass, whole algae for nutraceuticals and as fortified food supplements, and high-value products such as carotenoids and phytonutrients.

Ground-breaking New Biology & Engineering

  • Our new biotech and biorefinery IP have unmatchable protein and EPA yields per hectare.
  • End-to-end production systems from elite algae species to just-in-time, demand driven refinery output.
  • Validated around the world and at the University of Queensland, Australia.
  • Algae oils and pastes have been clinically tested by Symbio Laboratories.

Sustainability Without the Fine Print

  • Salty, marine or ground water goes in, clean water comes out and is recycled back to the production system, no waste is produced.
  • Production process is CO2 absorbing and oxygen releasing.
  • Displaces krill fishing fleets that disrupt the Antarctic wildlife food chain.

The Algemy Network – Scalable Growth Business Model

  • Self-owned value-add biorefineries & IP.
  • Self-owned Export Offtake Agreements for Omega-3 EPA and protein markets.
  • Shared CapEx Model with licensed network farms.
